Geophysical study in the UK.

Everything looks fine on the surface, but what’s happening beneath it?

@Orbis Terrarum has completed a new geophysical study in the UK, delivering critical subsurface data to support the improvement of port infrastructure.

Our team carried out Electrical Resistivity Imaging (ERI) and MASW seismic testing, with the objective of characterizing ground conditions and assessing the subsurface before implementing measures to enhance the port’s performance.

These studies provide:

  • Identification of stratigraphic variations and weak ground zones.
  • Detection of groundwater levels and saturated materials that may affect stability.
  • Subsurface stiffness and shear-wave velocity profiling through MASW to support ground improvement decisions.
  • Reduced anthropic filling uncertainty, enabling more reliable design and engineering assessments.

In port environments, where stability, durability and operational continuity are essential, the combination of ERI+MASW offers a comprehensive view of the ground, minimizing risks and optimizing outcomes.
