What does it take to execute a Pull-Out Test campaign in the middle of a severe winter?

@OrbisTerrarum is currently carrying out pile driving and pull-out tests for three photovoltaic projects in northern Spain.
These tests allow:

• Assessment of actual ground response under anchoring and driving loads.
• Definition of technical parameters for foundation design.
• Validation of structural solutions under real soil conditions.

This winter is being particularly hard across much of the northern hemisphere. In January 2026 alone, rainfall in Spain was 85% above average, ranking among the wettest Januarys in recent decades according to AEMET, with consecutive storm systems bringing persistent rain and snowfall to different regions of the country.

What does it take to execute a Pull-Out Test campaign in the middle of a severe winter? Saturated soils, low temperatures and snowfall increase technical complexity, from field execution to data interpretation.

Even under these conditions, the team’s experience and methodological discipline ensure the campaign progresses.
