Ground Penetrating Radar in Sicily

At @Orbis Terrarum, we continue intensifying our presence in Italy through Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and geophysical campaigns supporting the design of energy projects’ evacuation lines.

The challenge is to identify and accurately map a dense network of buried services along kilometric corridors, including critical crossings of gas and electrical infrastructure in high-density areas.

To address this, dual-frequency Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is combined with radiofrequency, integrating all data into a GIS model that made it possible to:

• Detect services down to 5 m depth.
• Define alignments at several depths using different frquencies.
• Reduce risks and avoid interference during construction.

In large-scale energy projects, advanced geophysics is not just a technical support, it is key to keeping projects on schedule and avoiding unexpected costs on site.
