During 2026, Orbis Terrarum has developed 6 ante operam projects in #Italy, applying the #VAPI methodology (Valutazione delle Piene in Italia) as a reference for flood flow estimation, based on regional analysis of extreme rainfall and return periods.

In hydraulic engineering, the answer does not depend only on the model, but on how the design scenario is defined.

Our international experience confirms a key principle: engineering must not only be technically sound, but also territorially contextualized.

Each country,and even each region, applies its own criteria for estimating rainfall, flow rates, and flood-prone areas. And that difference is critical in the
final outcome.

This work reinforces the Orbis Terrarum principle: integrating technical
criteria, regulatory knowledge, and local context into every study.
