H2Med – BarMar – Hydrogen Corridor

@Orbis Terrarum is carrying out the onshore geotechnical and topographic survey for the Spanish facilities of H2Med–BarMar.
H2Med is a cross-border hydrogen corridor designed to connect the Iberian Peninsula with France and the wider north-west European hydrogen network. BarMar is its 400 km offshore section, running from Barcelona to Fos-sur-Mer, near Marseille.
BarMar has entered the FEED phase, where accurate ground data is required to define the compressor station layout and foundation design.
Compressor foundations are exposed to cyclic dynamic loads. The investigation must therefore characterise both the static and dynamic behaviour of the ground.
The current campaign includes boreholes, SPTs, representative soil sampling, laboratory testing and Vertical Seismic Profiling (VSP), alongside the topographic survey. VSP measures P- and S-wave velocities, providing data to assess ground stiffness and dynamic response.
